Bentley University Women’s Golf Seizes Third Consecutive Title
PORTLAND, MAINE – The Bentley University women’s golf team showcased an impressive performance, clinching their third consecutive tournament victory on Sunday at the University of Southern Maine Invitational. Once again, Isabel Gonzalez Villarreal emerged as the standout player, securing first place individually for the second week running.
In only their second year of competition, the Falcons dominated the event hosted at Riverside Golf Club, finishing with a commanding team score of +33 — a remarkable 43 shots ahead of the nearest competitor, Keene State College.
Individual Highlights
Gonzalez Villarreal led the way with an outstanding score of -1, turning in a round of 71. Her performance was four strokes better than teammate Tanya Chowdary, who finished at +3. Additionally, Alex Kwon placed seventh, while Ana Gill tied for eighth, contributing to the team’s overall success by placing four members in the top ten.
Previous Victories
The Falcons kicked off their season with a win at the Hartford Invitational, followed by another victory at the Franklin Pierce Invitational just days prior to this event. Notably, Gonzalez Villarreal was the individual champion in both of these previous tournaments as well.
Upcoming Challenges
Looking ahead, Bentley’s women’s golf team will prepare for the Northeast 10 Championship, scheduled to take place on September 30 at Stonebridge Country Club in New Hampshire, marking an important upcoming challenge in their season.
