Women’s Golf Update
The University of Missouri women’s golf team kicks off their spring season this Sunday at the Westbrook Invitational in Arizona.
Tournament Details
This two-day event, featuring 14 competing teams, begins Sunday morning with a shotgun start at 9:30 a.m. CT. The teams will play 36 holes on the first day, concluding the tournament with 18 holes on Monday.
Among the teams participating are ranked competitors such as No. 25 Kansas, No. 30 Kansas State, No. 35 UNLV, and No. 50 Minnesota, alongside Chattanooga, Colorado State, Louisiana-Monroe, Nebraska, Penn State, Sam Houston, South Florida, Washington State, and Wisconsin.
Hosted at the Westbrook Village Golf Club in Peoria, Arizona, the course measures 6,248 yards with a par of 72.
Current Rankings
As the spring season unfolds, Missouri holds a national ranking of No. 61, on track for one of their best finishes in recent years. The team has shown remarkable improvement, reducing their national rank from 120th in the 2021-22 season to 79th in 2023-24.
Fall Season Highlights
During the fall season, the Tigers participated in five tournaments, achieving top-five finishes in three of them. At the Marilynn Smith Sunflower Invitational, the team secured second place with three players finishing in the top 10 and five within the top 20. Junior Melanie Walker led the team with a commendable three-under finish, securing second place individually.
Senior Ffion Tynan excelled with a 74-stroke average and achieved a top-five finish at the Johnie Imes tournament, marking her best collegiate performance with a closing score of one-under 71.
Additionally, juniors Addie Dobson and Jade Zamora both recorded personal-best 54-hole scores at the Marilynn Smith Sunflower Invitational. Zamora is having a breakout season with a potential career-low stroke average, finishing in the top 10 with a score of 215. Dobson also reached a career milestone with her total of 217, securing her first top-10 finish.
Fleur van Beek contributed with three individual top-10 finishes, while freshman Alexandra Berglund made her mark by shooting a one-under 71 at the Blessings Collegiate, the first of her college career.
