IU Indianapolis Women’s Golf Team Prepares for Notre Dame Classic
Exciting Tournament Ahead
The IU Indianapolis women’s golf team is set for an intensive challenge this Sunday, September 28, as they head to South Bend, Indiana, for the Women’s Fighting Irish Classic at the renowned Warren Golf Course. The event features a demanding 36-hole format played within a single day.
Recent Performance Recap
This tournament marks the Jaguars’ third outing of the fall season. They are looking to build momentum following a fifth-place finish at the Brittany Kelly Classic hosted by Ball State two weeks ago. The team recorded a cumulative score of 925 over three rounds (313-303-309), showcasing significant improvement.
Leading the Jaguars was rookie Li (Sherry) Xia, who made a notable debut with a total score of 229 (74-74-81), securing a tie for 14th place among 50 competitors.
Notable Performances
During the Brittany Kelly Classic, all five team members performed exceptionally, with each player shooting below 80 in the second round. Xia and fellow freshman Olivia Aronhalt delivered standout rounds, carding scores of 75 and 76 respectively. Senior Yanah Rolston contributed with a solid 76, while Emma Frauhiger and Lexi Stuart recorded scores of 78.
As of now, the Jaguars hold an average score of 319.3 across two tournaments, with Xia (76.33) and Rolston (78.33) leading individually.
Coach’s Perspective
Reflecting on their progress, Associate Head Coach Kara Blair remarked, “I’m really proud of the progress these girls have shown from our first tournament. We left some putts out there and had a few trouble holes, but that’s expected. We kept our game faces on and had some grit to keep pushing forward.”

The Warren Course, now celebrating its 25th anniversary, is recognized as one of Indiana’s premier golf courses, recently ranked as the No. 4 course in the state and No. 9 among Best College Courses in America by GolfWeek.
Competitive Field
The Jaguars will be competing against a strong lineup, including teams from Central Michigan, Dayton, Evansville, Oakland, Purdue Fort Wayne, Valparaiso, and Youngstown State, in addition to the host team, Notre Dame.
