Wheeling University Women’s Golf Team Competes at Bull Dog Fall Classic
Grand Rapids, MI — The Wheeling University Women’s Golf team concluded their participation in the Bull Dog Fall Classic on Sunday, showcasing notable improvements in their performance. As they prepare for the upcoming Mountain East Conference (MEC) Women’s Golf Championships, the team achieved a significant rebound, reducing their combined score by 24 strokes compared to the first round.
Top Performers Shine
Senior golfer Ella Keffer led the Cardinals for the second consecutive day, finishing 44th overall and ranking 16th among her fellow Atlantic Regional competitors. Keffer began her day on hole 15, experiencing a rocky start but quickly regained her momentum with a strong front nine. She recorded a par on hole 18 and followed it by achieving five pars and one birdie, concluding the front nine with a +3 score. She maintained her composure on the back nine, collecting two birdies and ultimately concluding her second round with a score of 79, marking her sixth sub-80 round of the fall season.
Significant Improvement from Brielle Milhoan
Brielle Milhoan displayed the most remarkable transformation from the first to the second day, improving her score by 20 strokes to finish with an 83. Starting one hole behind Keffer, Milhoan faced challenges in the early part of her round but turned things around with a birdie on hole one. She recovered further during the front nine, achieving another birdie on hole seven. Finishing strong, she recorded four consecutive pars on her last four holes of the back nine, capping off her round with renewed confidence as she heads into the MEC Championships.
Upcoming Challenges
The Wheeling University Women’s Golf team will return to competitive action on Monday, October 6th, as they take part in the round one of the MEC Women’s Golf Championships, aiming to continue their positive momentum from the Bull Dog Fall Classic.
