University of Lynchburg Women’s Golf Team Competes in Lynn Schweizer Invitational
Granville, Ohio — The University of Lynchburg’s women’s golf team kicked off its fall 2025 season at the Lynn Schweizer Invitational, hosted by Denison University at the Denison Golf Club. The Hornets finished sixth out of 13 teams, accumulating a total score of 643 strokes over the two-round event.
Performance Summary
Randolph-Macon secured first place with a total of 599 strokes, finishing 18 over par. Following closely were Denison and DePauw, who placed second and third with scores of 625 (+45) and 631 (+51), respectively. Individually, Becky Williams from DePauw emerged as the standout performer, finishing three under par and becoming the only competitor to break par during the tournament.
Lynchburg’s Top Performers
Lily Rowe was the highest finisher for Lynchburg, tying for fifth place out of a competitive 72-person field with a score of +8. Rowe averaged 76.5 across both rounds, with scores of 76 on the first day and 77 on the second.
Grace Saunders followed suit with an average score of 79.5, securing a tie for 18th place. Taylor Park finished closely behind, tying for 24th with an average of 81. Gabbie Hollberg landed in a tie for 38th with an average score of 85, while her sister, Lily Hollberg, concluded her rounds with an average of 88.5, putting her in the 52nd position.
Upcoming Events
The Hornets will take a brief respite before continuing their fall schedule. Their next competition will be at the Williams Invitational in Williamstown, Massachusetts, scheduled for September 27-28.
