WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The WKU women’s golf team completed the first two rounds of the Boilermaker Classic on Monday, hosted by Purdue. The competition, taking place in West Lafayette, Indiana, saw the Lady Toppers currently positioned in a tie for 10th place, just two strokes behind the ninth place as they head into the final round on Tuesday.

Performance Overview

  • The Lady Toppers recorded a score of 303 (+15) in the first round, followed by a 305 (+17) in the second round. They are currently tied with North Florida.
  • Senior Sydney Hackett stands out for WKU, finishing the day at 4-over. She shot 3-over in the first round and improved with a score of 1-over in the second round, placing her tied for 21st. Notably, Hackett is tied for third most birdies in the tournament with nine.
  • Also tied for 21st is senior Nina McMurtrey, who recorded a 4-over score for the day. She made a strong start with a score of 1-over in the first round but slipped to 3-over in the second. McMurtrey has eight birdies so far, placing her tied for fifth in the tournament.
  • Sophomore Kaylee Dwyer is in tie for 38th place after posting a total of 9-over for the day, with scores of 76 and 77 in the respective rounds.
  • Freshman Leah Edwards currently sits in a tie for 49th, having recorded a total of 10-over for the day. She shot 2-over in the first round but struggled with an 8-over in the second.
  • Another freshman, Reagan Ramage, shares the 49th position with Edwards, shooting 79 in the first round and improving to 75 in the second.
  • Senior Averi Cline completed her rounds with a total score of 166, shooting 78 in the first and 88 in the second round.

Coach’s Insights

“It was a tough day today,” remarked head coach Adam Gary. “We had a lot of birdies but too many bogeys and others. We have the first day under our belt, and we’ll look to learn from it and improve tomorrow.”

Looking Ahead

The Lady Toppers will aim to improve their standing in the third and final round of the Boilermaker Classic on Tuesday, which is set to begin with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. (CT).
