Overview of Navy Women’s Golf Team in NCAA Tournament
ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Navy women’s golf team, seeded 11th, is gearing up for its second consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance and third overall in program history. The team will begin play at the Gold Canyon Regional, located in Gold Canyon, Arizona, on Monday morning.
Regional Competition Details
The tournament will take place at the Superstition Mountain Golf and Country Club, known for its challenging par-72, 6,544-yard Prospector Course. This regional, hosted by eight-time national champions Arizona State, features 12 teams competing from Monday to Wednesday, with tee times commencing at 8 a.m. Mountain Time (11 a.m. Eastern Time) each day.

Each regional will consist of 12 teams and six individual competitors. The top five teams and the leading individual not advancing with a team from each regional will qualify for the national championships, scheduled for May 16-21 at Omni La Costa Resort in Carlsbad, California.
The Course Features
Designed by legendary golfer Jack Nicklaus and his son, Gary, the Prospector Course has hosted numerous LPGA and professional events since its establishment in 1998, including the recent 2023 LPGA Drive On Championship.
Recent Performances
Navy Women’s Golf recently captured its second-straight and third overall Patriot League Championship, scoring 21-over par 885 at Saucon Valley Country Club. The team finished 38 strokes ahead of runner-up Boston. Emma Tang secured individual medalist honors with an even-par 216, while Sue Lee and Megan Kirkpatrick tied for runner-up at 4-over par 220.
Acknowledgments
This season, Emma Tang was named the 2025 Patriot League Golfer of the Year, and Megan Kirkpatrick received Rookie-of-the-Year honors—marking the first time in Navy’s history that golfers achieved these distinctions. Coach Kylee Baker was also honored with her second consecutive Patriot League Coach of the Year award after guiding the team to seven top-10 finishes and breaking program records.
Academic Achievements
Sophomore Keira Howard was recognized on the 2024-25 Academic All-Patriot League Team. Holding a commendable 3.58 GPA as a mathematics major, she becomes the fifth golfer in Navy’s history to achieve this distinction while maintaining a competitive scoring average of 77.33.
NCAA Regional History
Navy previously competed at the NCAA Regionals in 2021, finishing 18th with a score of 73-over par 925. Last year, the team improved to a 10th-place finish, marking its highest achievement at this national level to date, with Emma Tang leading with a 5-over par 221.
