Gustavus Women’s Golf Team Concludes Spring Season at St. Olaf-Carleton Invitational
NORTHFIELD, Minn. – The Gustavus Adolphus College women’s golf team wrapped up its spring season on April 27 during the final day of the St. Olaf-Carleton Invitational, held at Willingers Golf Club, a par 72 course. The Gusties secured a seventh-place finish among 11 teams with a cumulative score of 674, totaling 340 on the first day and 334 on the second, resulting in a +98 overall.
Tournament Overview
St. Catherine University emerged victorious in the tournament, achieving a score of 624 (+48), followed closely by Carleton College and Grinnell College from Iowa, which placed second and third, respectively. Individually, Kyra Venne from St. Catherine took the top honors with a score of four over par, totaling 148.
Gusties’ Individual Achievements
Junior Lauren Hubbart from Hastings, Minn., made a significant move up the leaderboard on the final day, delivering a standout performance with a season-best score of 77. This impressive round propelled her to an overall 10th place finish, bolstered by four birdies and 11 pars during her second round.
Following Hubbart, sophomore Maren Masters from Shakopee, Minn., concluded the event in 13th place, achieving a score of 83 that included two birdies, one of which showcased her skills on hole seven, where she executed a two-shot performance along with seven pars.
Team Highlights
Sophomore Riley Zebroski from Watertown, S.D., finished the tournament in 35th place after recording an 84 for a total score of 172. Emily Kolb, a junior from Sioux Falls, S.D., rounded out the top four for Gustavus with a total score of 179, placing 45th overall. Other team members included Josie Raiche (So., Orono, Minn.), who finished 59th, Mary Kate Hewitt (So., Edina, Minn.) in 63rd, and Jenna Piepkorn (Jr., Plymouth, Minn.), who scored 101.
Season Summary
Throughout the season, apart from their fifth-place finish at the MIAC Championships out of 10 competing teams, the Gusties performed admirably in other tournaments, placing in the top five in three events during the 2024-25 season. The team registered a record of 27-24 against MIAC schools and averaged 332.0 across 17 rounds. Notably, three Gustavus players achieved top five finishes in various competitions, with an additional three securing spots in the top ten.
