YSU Women’s Golf Team Prepares for Total Athlete Collegiate
The Youngstown State University (YSU) women’s golf team is set to advance their fall season schedule starting Monday with the Total Athlete Collegiate. This two-day event will take place at the Country Club of the North in Xenia, Ohio.
Recent Success at the YSU Kickoff
The Penguins are fresh off a significant victory from the YSU Kickoff, where they clinched their first team win of the fall season. Demonstrating remarkable skill, YSU finished the one-day event with a team score of 292, surpassing the runner-up Westminster by a staggering 50 strokes.
Spotlight on Neeranuch Prajunpanich
Junior Neeranuch Prajunpanich has been a standout player this season, earning medalist honors in both of YSU’s opening tournaments. Her performance has been nothing short of impressive, including a two-round score of 137 (67-70) at the Tiger Classic hosted by Clemson, where she shared medalist honors. Following this, at the YSU Kickoff, Prajunpanich achieved a career-low, bogey-free round of 64, winning the event by 11 strokes and matching the school record for the lowest individual 18-hole score.
Tournament Field and Format
The Total Athlete Collegiate will feature a competitive field that includes eight schools: Akron, Austin Peay, Bellarmine, Cedarville, Eastern Illinois, Murray State, Northern Kentucky, and Tennessee Tech. The tournament format consists of 36 holes on Monday followed by 18 holes on Tuesday, totaling 54 holes. The course measures approximately 6,237 yards with a par of 72. Each day’s play will commence with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. and live scoring will be available via Leaderboard King, with links provided on YSUsports.com.
YSU’s Lineup for the Tournament
Head Coach Nate Miklos has announced a consistent five-player lineup for the event, which includes:
- Neeranuch Prajunpanich
- Maddi Shoults
- Valentina Peña Anaya
- Sofia Perez Escarcena
- Bella Saur
Adena Rugola will also be competing as an individual for the Penguins, returning for her second tournament following her debut at the YSU Kickoff.
Upcoming Schedule
Following the Total Athlete Collegiate, the Penguins will host the Roseann Schwartz Invitational at Mill Creek Golf Course in Boardman, Ohio, on September 21-22, continuing their fall season.
