NEVADA, Mo. — The Bulldogs experienced a challenging outing on the court, falling to the Cottey College Comets in a decisive 64-39 defeat on November 26. This loss prevented them from achieving their first win of the season during a non-conference matchup.
### Offensive Struggles
From the outset, the Bulldogs faced difficulties in their offensive play. They struggled to find their rhythm, shooting only 23% in the first quarter and improving marginally to 33% in the second quarter. A lack of success from beyond the arc, going just 1-7 in three-point attempts, compounded their woes. In contrast, the Comets demonstrated offensive prowess, managing a commendable 42% shooting rate in the first half. By halftime, they established a commanding 37-17 lead.
### Second Half Challenges
The difficulties persisted into the second half for the Bulldogs, as they shot a mere 14% in the third quarter, allowing the Comets to extend their lead further. Although MC improved their shooting percentage to 26% in the final quarter, it was too little, too late. The early deficit proved insurmountable, and the Bulldogs now find themselves at 0-9 for the season.
### Standout Performance
Despite the team’s struggles, freshman Skylar Bencsek delivered a standout performance, leading her team with six points in 11 minutes of play. Gillian Rodgers also contributed significantly, notching five points and securing five rebounds in an all-around solid game.
### Looking Ahead
The Bulldogs aim to turn their fortunes around as they continue their road trip, returning to KCAC play on December 4 against the preseason favorites, Tabor College. The highly anticipated matchup is set to tip off at 6:00 PM.
