FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The second day of the Blessings Collegiate Invitational brought a notable performance from the Kent State Golden Flashes women’s golf team, which shot a remarkable 2-over-par 290. This result propelled the team into second place among the ten participating squads. Conversely, the men’s team, while showing individual promise, dropped to seventh place with a team score of 15-over-par 303.
The women’s team currently holds a 36-hole score of 20-over-par, trailing only the Arkansas women’s team, which has shown exceptional skill on their home turf with a 21-stroke lead at 1-under-par. Similarly, Arkansas leads the men’s field at 6-over-par, maintaining a seven-stroke advantage over Louisville. The Golden Flashes men’s team sits at 29-over-par after two rounds.
Among the standout players for the women’s team, Gracie Larsen and Aryn Matthews each recorded individual rounds of 1-under-par 71 on Tuesday, elevating them into the top ten of the individual standings. Larsen is tied for fifth overall at 1-over-par, while Matthews finds herself in eighth position at 3-over-par. Additionally, Leon Takagi and Isabella Goyette made their mark, with Takagi earning a 1-over-par 73 and tying for 13th at 7-over-par. Goyette’s 3-over-par 75 placed her in a tie for 18th.
The men’s side was headlined by Nolan Haynes and Liam Curtis, both of whom delivered impressive performances on Tuesday. Haynes achieved five birdies in his opening ten holes, concluding with a 1-under-par 71. The sophomore from Barberton, Ohio, now sits tied for sixth at 2-over-par, eyeing his first career top-ten finish in the final round. Curtis, participating in his third collegiate tournament, also remains in contention after shooting a 1-over-par 73, placing him tied for ninth at a total of 3-over-par. Isaiah Ibit, after a challenging second round, stands tied for 22nd at 7-over-par following a round of 79.
The third and final round of the Blessings Collegiate Invitational is set for Wednesday morning. The men’s team will begin their round from hole 10 at 9:30 a.m., while the women’s team will start from hole 1 at 10:45 a.m.
