A woman who accused Jay-Z and Sean “Diddy” Combs of sexual assault when she was just 13 years old has decided to withdraw her lawsuit against both music icons.
According to court documents, a notice of voluntary dismissal was filed on Friday, officially dismissing the case “with prejudice,” which prevents the plaintiff from re-filing in the future.
This development comes less than four months after the initial filing, which included unsettling allegations regarding how the woman claims she was enticed by a limousine driver outside the 2000 MTV Video Music Awards and subsequently assaulted at an after-party by the two prominent rappers.

The woman’s attorneys, referred to in the lawsuit as “Jane Doe,” did not provide reasons for retracting the complaint and declined to comment further. Jay-Z, whose real name is Shawn Carter, has vehemently denied the allegations, labeling them as “frivolous, fictitious, and appalling.” In a statement, he criticized the lawsuit as a “money-grabbing” endeavor.
“I would not wish this experience on anyone. The trauma that my family and I have endured is immeasurable,” he stated.
Meanwhile, Sean Combs is currently facing a slew of allegations, including physical assault and sexual misconduct, and remains in a New York City jail awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges.

In a statement following the lawsuit’s dismissal on Friday, Combs’ legal team conveyed confidence that this would be the first among several claims that will ultimately falter in court. “Sean Combs has never sexually assaulted or trafficked anyone—man or woman, adult or minor,” they asserted.
The plaintiff, now a 38-year-old resident of Alabama, previously shared her story in an NBC News interview, explaining that she kept silent for over 20 years due to feelings of disbelief about her allegations.
The woman recounted the events of the 2000 MTV VMAs, stating that she met a limousine driver claiming to work for Combs outside the ceremony at Radio City Music Hall. The driver allegedly brought her to an after-party where she consumed a drink that left her lightheaded. Following this, she claims that both rappers assaulted her while another woman looked on.

The defense team for Carter has emphasized the inconsistencies in the woman’s claims, pointing out that they were unable to locate the after-party venue described as a large white house with a U-shaped driveway situated roughly 20 minutes from the awards venue. They have also cited reports indicating that musician Benji Madden, whom she claimed was present at the event, was on tour during that timeframe.
As the legal situation develops, Combs is scheduled to face trial for separate charges of sex trafficking and racketeering in May.
