Washington University Women’s Cross Country Clinches NCAA Midwest Regional Title
In an impressive display of athleticism and teamwork, the No. 13 Washington University in St. Louis women’s cross country team triumphed at the 2025 NCAA Midwest Regional Championship held in Waverly, Iowa. This victory comes after their second-place finish behind No. 10 University of Chicago at the recent UAA Championships.
Championship Summary
The Bears secured the championship title by finishing with a total of 42 points, edging out the University of Chicago, who scored 48 points. Wartburg College followed in third place with 91 points, while Central College and Grinnell College placed fourth and fifth, respectively, with scores of 136 and 148 points. The race included 30 teams and saw participation from 219 individual runners.
Individual Performances
Sophomore Lucinda Laughlin led the team by claiming the individual regional title, completing the 6K course in an impressive time of 21:29.7. Senior Jillian Heth closely followed, finishing just a second behind Laughlin, earning runner-up honors with a time of 21:30.8.

Upcoming Championship
With this victory, the WashU women’s cross country team has earned an automatic bid to compete in the 2025 NCAA Championship, scheduled for Saturday, November 22, in Spartanburg, South Carolina. The women’s race will commence at 12 p.m. ET at the Roger Milliken Center.
