Weekly Update: Wake Forest Women’s Athletics

Volleyball
This weekend, the Wake Forest volleyball team will host two matches at Varsity Arena. The action kicks off on Friday against Georgia Tech at 6:30 p.m. On Sunday, the team will face Clemson in its annual Pink Match, with the first serve set for 1 p.m. Fans are encouraged to wear pink and arrive early for a special ceremony honoring this year’s Tenacity Award recipient, dedicated to the memory of former head coach Heather Holmes.
Recently, the Demon Deacons excelled against NC State, achieving a decisive victory earlier this week, marking their fourth match sweep of the season. The team currently stands fourth in the conference for assists, averaging 12.53 per set.
Field Hockey
The highly-ranked Wake Forest field hockey team, boasting an 11-game winning streak, concludes its home stand this weekend with matches in ACC play against Stanford and California. The matchup against Stanford will begin at 5 p.m. on Friday, October 17, followed by the game against Cal at noon on Sunday, both broadcasted on ACC Network Extra.
Women’s Soccer
Ranked 13th nationally, the Demon Deacons (9-2-3, 3-1-2 ACC) will travel to Clemson on Thursday. After a challenging match last Thursday against Louisville, which ended in a 1-1 draw, the Deacs remain unbeaten at home. Freshman Allie Flanagan’s goal in the 30th minute has positioned her as a top scorer for the team, currently tied with five goals.
In recognition of individual athletic prowess, four Deacs were named to the TopDrawerSoccer Midseason Top 100 Rankings for both freshmen and national categories.
Women’s Golf
The No. 2-ranked women’s golf team is gearing up for the Ruth’s Chris Tar Heel Invitational at Finley Golf Course in Chapel Hill, NC. Following an impressive September where they captured two tournament titles, the Deacons are eager to continue their success. Sophomore Chloe Kovelesky garnered the title of ACC Women’s Golfer of the Month thanks to her outstanding performances, including an individual title at the ANNIKA Intercollegiate, while junior Macy Pate achieved her first collegiate title at the 2025 Jackson T. Stephens Cup.
Cross Country
The women’s cross country team is ready to conclude its regular season at the Arturo Barrios Invitational in College Station, Texas on Friday. Scheduled to commence at 9:15 a.m., the 6k race follows a season filled with competitive success, including three top-10 finishes and individual titles for junior Angelina Perez and redshirt sophomore Alyssa Preisano.
Women’s Tennis
This week, the Wake Forest women’s tennis team participates in the ITA Carolina Regional at North Carolina. The draws for matches will be announced soon, providing players with the chance to qualify for the NCAA Singles and Doubles Championships in the fall.
