The sixth week of competition in the 2025 WAC Women’s Soccer season marks the conclusion of non-conference matches, with teams gearing up for conference play. Notably, Abilene Christian has already completed its non-conference schedule after facing Baylor last Sunday.
Utah Valley Stages Dramatic Comeback
In an exciting match against Weber State, Utah Valley displayed resilience by overcoming two two-goal deficits, ultimately winning 4-3. Weber State opened the scoring with two goals within the first 21 minutes. However, Sadie Beardall quickly narrowed the gap for UVU, scoring just 40 seconds after Weber State’s second goal. After falling behind again with a goal in the 59th minute, Marie Quentel, this week’s WAC Offensive Player of the Week, played a crucial role by scoring and assisting within a span of five minutes, leveling the match. Nixan Jackson then secured the victory with a decisive goal in the 81st minute.
Abilene Christian Maintains Home Dominance
Abilene Christian achieved a strong 1-0 victory over Northwestern State, ensuring they remained undefeated at home this season. The match’s only goal came from Raelin Miller, who scored in the 72nd minute, marking her first collegiate goal. Bella Medrano, honored as this week’s WAC Goalkeeper of the Week, achieved her third clean sheet of the season, tying her for the most shutouts in the WAC.
California Baptist Triumphs in Crosstown Showdown
California Baptist preserved its perfect home record with a 2-0 win against UC Riverside, showcasing strong performances in the Crosstown Showdown. Kaylee Hauck initiated the scoring in the 11th minute, followed by Bexy Sanchez, who netted her first collegiate goal in the 39th minute. All four victories for California Baptist this season have been shutouts, with Mikayla O’Brien recording three of those clean sheets, tying her with Abilene Christian’s Medrano.
