Stevens Ducks Secure 3-0 Victory Over King’s in MAC Freedom Play
HOBOKEN, N.J. – The Stevens Institute of Technology women’s volleyball team further solidified its position in the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom standings with a convincing three-set sweep of King’s College on Wednesday night at Canavan Arena. With this win, the Ducks advanced their conference record to 4-1 and their overall record to 15-8, achieving their third consecutive victory and ninth in the last eleven matches.
Match Highlights
The Ducks demonstrated explosive offense throughout the evening. The opening set saw Stevens hit an impressive .633, recording 19 kills on 30 attempts without any errors. The Ducks set the tone early, establishing leads of 5-1, 8-2, 13-4, and 22-6, ultimately closing the set 25-7.
- Alyssa O’Neal led the team with 7 kills.
- Ella Boland contributed 4 kills.
- Both Sarah Bolduc and Eva Tarolli added 3 kills each.
- Vivian Lisboa rounded off the scoring with 2 kills.
The second set commenced similarly as Stevens surged ahead 7-1. However, King’s College managed to narrow the gap to four points on several occasions. After reaching a 12-8 score, the Ducks regained control, thanks in part to Bolduc’s back-to-back kills, securing the second set 25-16. O’Neal again shone with 6 additional kills, and Bolduc and Boland also made significant contributions.
In the final set, Stevens initially led 9-2, but King’s fought back to briefly take a 12-11 lead. A pivotal timeout taken by the Ducks sparked a powerful comeback, allowing them to score six consecutive points and maintain control for the remainder of the match, winning the set 25-17. Ella Kraver emerged as a key player in this set with 5 kills, while Lisboa, Boland, and Bolduc each had 3 kills to their names.
