Record Viewership for UEFA Women’s EURO 2025 Group Stages
The ongoing UEFA Women’s EURO 2025 has achieved remarkable milestones in television viewership, with ratings nearly doubling since the last tournament in 2022. According to Fox Sports, the average number of viewers for the 24 group-stage matches this summer was approximately 306,000, a significant increase from the 161,000 viewers recorded three years ago.
Highlights of the Tournament
One of the standout matches was the thrilling encounter on July 5, where France triumphed over reigning champions England with a 2-1 victory. This match attracted an impressive 690,000 viewers, marking a 329% rise compared to the previous group-stage games.
Other exciting matches included:
- Spain’s 3-1 victory over Italy on July 11, averaging 568,000 viewers.
- Sweden’s comeback win against Germany, ending 4-1 on July 12, which drew an average of 486,000 viewers.
Additional viewership data reveals that England’s 6-1 win over Wales was watched by approximately 151,000 viewers, while the Lionesses’ dominant 4-0 performance against the Netherlands engaged 120,000 viewers.
Fox Sports’ Commitment to Women’s Sports
The significant growth in viewership has been met with enthusiasm from Fox Sports. “UEFA Women’s EURO 2025 has surpassed all our expectations in setting a new viewership record for the group stage,” said Mike Mulvihill, president of insight and analytics at Fox Sports. He highlighted the network’s dedication to both international soccer and women’s sports, noting a growth exceeding 90%.
Looking ahead, Mulvihill expressed confidence that the upcoming knockout rounds, which start on Wednesday, will continue to resonate with fans. All knockout matches will be broadcast on the main Fox channel.

This marks Fox Sports’ inaugural broadcasting of the women’s European championships. The network has provided extensive coverage, showcasing matches not only on cable but also on its primary broadcast channel. Additionally, pre-match segments featured insights from retired international women’s football stars.
The analyst team includes distinguished figures like Carli Lloyd and Julie Ertz from the U.S. women’s national team, alongside four-time European champion Ariane Hingst of Germany, all contributing valuable perspectives to the tournament’s coverage.
