Winds Disrupt New England Championships on Lake Quinsigamond
WORCESTER, Mass. – The New England Championships faced significant disruptions due to heavy winds on Lake Quinsigamond, leading to the cancellation of most grand finals scheduled for the afternoon. Despite these challenging conditions, one event, the varsity 8 final, proceeded with the Cardinals securing a commendable fifth place among 16 competing boats.
Performance Highlights
The varsity 8 crew of the Cardinals showcased their skills by qualifying for the grand final with a second-place finish in the preliminary round, clocking in at 7:01.476. This impressive time was only surpassed by MIT.
In the grand final, Wesleyan’s varsity 8 finished with a time of 8:20.135, which placed the Cardinals fifth overall.
Additional Results
- The 2nd varsity 8 also excelled, achieving a preliminary time of 7:20.7 to earn a spot in the grand final.
- The 3rd varsity 8 posted a time of 8:33.998, allowing them to advance to the petite final.
Unfortunately, the grand finals for both the 2V8 and 3V8 were not held due to adverse weather conditions.
