Update on Idaho Women’s Tennis
MOSCOW, Idaho – The Idaho women’s tennis team continued their impressive streak, now winning four consecutive matches after their recent showdowns against Seattle University and Lewis-Clark State College.
Victory Against Seattle University
On Saturday, the Vandals narrowly triumphed over the Redhawks with a score of 4-3. Unfortunately, Idaho lost the doubles point at the start, with Naomi Schrader and Hanna Koprowska falling 5-7, and Valentina Rodas and Diana Khaydarshina suffering a close defeat, also at 5-7.
Strong Singles Performance
Despite the doubles setback, the Vandals showcased their strength in singles play. Schrader, Koprowska, and Rodas each delivered dominant performances, winning their matches in straight sets: Schrader at 6-2, 6-2; Koprowska at 6-1, 6-4; and Rodas at a commanding 6-1, 6-1. Additionally, Annabel Davis secured victory in her match with a hard-fought 6-4, 6-4 outcome.
Dominance Over Lewis-Clark State College
The following day, Idaho swept all seven points against the Lewis-Clark State Warriors. The Vandals made strategic adjustments in their doubles lineup but still achieved success in all three matches. The pairs of Hanna Koprowska and Lena Beckx, along with Chenyue Xu and Selin Sepken, both won handily with scores of 6-0, while Valentina Rodas and Naomi Schrader claimed their match 6-1.
Consistent Success in Singles
Following their impressive doubles performance, Idaho maintained momentum in singles, winning all five matches decisively. Koprowska and Xu both executed flawless 6-0, 6-0 victories, while Schrader claimed her match 6-0, 6-3. Rodas triumphed 6-1, 7-5, and Beckx secured a solid win of 6-0, 6-3, solidifying the Vandals’ dominance.
Upcoming Matches
Next, the Vandals will return home to compete in the nation’s largest college tennis facility, where they will face the University of Wyoming and the University of the Pacific on February 22 and 23. Excitement is brewing as they prepare to utilize their home advantage in the upcoming matches.
