USF Women’s Basketball Prepares for WBCA Challenge
TAMPA, Fla., November 12, 2025 – The University of South Florida (USF) women’s basketball team is gearing up for the 2025 Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Challenge, held this week at Michelob Ultra Arena in Las Vegas. The Bulls, currently 2-0 following victories over Florida International University and Long Island University, are ready for what promises to be a competitive tournament.
Upcoming Matches
The Bulls will begin their tournament journey by facing off against Fairfield (2-0) on Thursday, November 13, at 6 p.m. ET. This matchup marks a critical test for USF, as Fairfield is the two-time defending Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference champion and is coming off a successful NCAA Tournament appearance last season.
On Saturday, November 15, at 9 p.m. ET, USF will contend with UCLA, currently ranked No. 3 in the nation. UCLA has a robust record of 3-0, having advanced to the NCAA Final Four and secured a Big Ten Tournament title last season, concluding the 2024-25 campaign with an impressive 34-3 record.
Key Players to Watch
One of the standout players for the Bulls is Edyn Battle, who has been recognized as the American Conference Player of the Week. Battle averaged 20 points in the opening week and currently leads the team with 40 points, just eight points shy of reaching 1,500 for her career.
In addition, Stefanie Ingram has emerged as a key playmaker, contributing an impressive eight assists per game, the highest in the American Conference during the initial week of play. Her ability to facilitate the offense will be vital as USF progresses in the tournament.
What Lies Ahead
The WBCA Challenge offers the Bulls an invaluable opportunity to face off against elite programs early in the season. With a combination of experienced players, balanced scoring, and momentum from their two initial wins, USF aims to carry this success into national competition.
Following the WBCA Challenge, the Bulls will return to their home court to compete against the No. 15 Duke on Wednesday, November 20, at 8 p.m. at the Yuengling Center. This matchup is another significant step in their challenging non-conference schedule.
