Expansion of Women’s Health Services at University of Maryland Charles Regional Medical Center
The University of Maryland Charles Regional Medical Center has enhanced its commitment to women’s health with the addition of two skilled midwives, Cassandra Burrell, MS, CNM, and Jashia Pinkney, CNM, WHNP-BC, C-EFM. This strategic move aims to improve the provision of compassionate, patient-centered care for women throughout Southern Maryland.
Meet Cassandra Burrell
Cassandra Burrell brings over 15 years of experience in maternal and women’s health. Her extensive skill set includes antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, and newborn care. A graduate of a Master of Science in Midwifery program, she is a certified nurse-midwife accredited by the American Midwifery Certification Board. Burrell is dedicated to providing culturally sensitive care and focuses on empowering patients through education. She is also actively involved with the American College of Nurse Midwives and serves the community through organizations such as Chi Eta Phi Sorority, Inc.
Introducing Jashia Pinkney
Jashia Pinkney holds dual certifications as a nurse-midwife and women’s health nurse practitioner. Her robust background includes comprehensive midwifery care, advanced prenatal services, labor and delivery support, and postpartum guidance. Pinkney earned her Master of Science in Nursing and is known for her advocacy in maternal health. She is also committed to mentoring future healthcare professionals and shares her knowledge through teaching at Georgetown University, presenting at international health conferences, and engaging in community outreach initiatives.
New Care Options Available
Both midwives are now available to see patients at the UM Charles Regional Medical Group – Women’s Health, located at 5010 Regency Place, Suite 301, in White Plains. Their combined expertise in maternal health and personalized support is set to enhance the quality of care for women in Charles County and nearby communities.
