Unilever Partners with World Rugby to Elevate Women’s Rugby Experience
The collaboration between Unilever and World Rugby will implement dynamic campaigns across various markets and platforms, uniting fans and athletes throughout all Rugby World Cups leading up to 2029. Kicking off this summer, the partnership will spotlight the Women’s Rugby World Cup 2025 hosted in England. This highly anticipated event is projected to be the largest celebration of women’s rugby to date, boasting over 275,000 tickets sold—double the count from the 2021 tournament in New Zealand.
Fabian Garcia, the President of Unilever Personal Care, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, “We are thrilled to collaborate with World Rugby, especially as women’s rugby experiences phenomenal growth. Our commitment to sports transcends mere sponsorship; it aims to create a lasting impact by bringing our brands closer to dedicated fans and strengthening our bond with consumers around the world. We eagerly anticipate activating our key brands to enhance the fan experience, increase visibility, break barriers, and inspire future generations of athletes.”
Michel Poussau, Chief Revenue Officer of World Rugby, emphasized the significance of this collaboration: “Our partnership with Unilever comes at a pivotal time for rugby, particularly as the women’s game reaches new heights. Unilever’s dedication to both the men’s and women’s Rugby World Cups will play a vital role in delivering world-class events that captivate both players and fans. Together, we will ensure that the Women’s Rugby World Cup 2025 becomes the most significant and thrilling event yet.”
This announcement strengthens Unilever’s impactful position in global sports sponsorship, following notable collaborations with the UEFA Women’s EURO 2025, FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023™, FIFA World Cup 2026™, FIFA Women’s World Cup 2027™, CAF Africa Cup of Nations, and CONMEBOL Copa América.
