Two Women Hurt and Cat Lost in DeKalb County House Fire

Two women hurt and cat lost in dekalb county house

A house fire in DeKalb County early Wednesday resulted in two women sustaining minor injuries, while one of their cats tragically did not survive.

Incident Overview

Emergency services received reports of a two-story home ablaze at approximately midnight on Ballina Drive. Firefighters quickly responded to the scene.

Victims and Injuries

Upon arrival, the firefighters found the two women outside their home, who mentioned they could not locate their two cats. During a search of the premises, one cat was discovered deceased inside the house, while the second cat is still unaccounted for.

The women were treated for minor injuries; one woman suffered from smoke inhalation, and the other sustained minor facial burns. Both victims were transported to a local hospital for care.

Displaced Residents

Due to the fire, the women have been displaced from their home. The American Red Cross is providing assistance to help them through this difficult time.

Fire Investigation

According to DeKalb County Fire Rescue, the fire originated in the garage, though the exact cause remains under investigation.
