The Italian Baseball Softball Federation (FIBS) is currently hosting the WBSC U-15 Women’s Softball World Cup Trophy Tour, which commenced on May 31 in the cities of Garlasco and Rho. This initiative aims to engage local communities by bringing the World Cup trophy to five cities across the Lombardy Region.
Upcoming Tour Stops
The tour will continue with several scheduled events:
- June 8 (Sunday): Rescaldina Sports Festival
- June 14-15 (Saturday-Sunday): Display at Brescia during the HOODIE 2K25 multi-sport event featuring a batting tunnel.
- June 16 (Monday): Trophy on display at the Council Room in Legnano.
- June 18 (Wednesday): Located in Caronno Pertusella during the local Palio, a festival characterized by races and communal celebrations.
- June 22 (Sunday): Final display in Saronno, coinciding with the first day of summer festivities in Matteotti square, which will also host a batting tunnel accessible to the public.
World Cup Details
The main event, the WBSC U-15 Women’s Softball World Cup, is scheduled to take place from June 27 to July 5 in the cities of Caronno Pertusella and Legnano. This tournament will feature 12 teams competing in a format that consists of an initial two-group round, followed by a Super Round to determine medal contenders.
Tournament Format
The competition structure is as follows:
- Top three teams from each group advance to the Super Round.
- Teams finishing fourth to sixth in their groups enter the Placement Round.
- The championship game will occur on July 5, marking the 50th matchup of the tournament.

- Group A: Japan (World No. 2), Puerto Rico (No. 3), Italy (No. 7), Mexico (No. 9), Spain (No. 13), American Samoa (No. 64).
- Group B: USA (No. 1), Chinese Taipei (No. 4), Canada (No. 6), Czechia (No. 8), Australia (No. 10), Singapore (No. 39).
