During the Thanksgiving season, while many celebrate with family and friends, Bunnie Xo is focused on a different mission: assisting women fleeing domestic violence.
Bunnie and her team are organizing a Thanksgiving dinner and care packages for women in transitional housing at the Mary Parrish Center. This initiative aims to support those seeking a fresh start and a safer environment.
In a statement to Extra, Bunnie emphasized the importance of giving back during this holiday, saying, “Thanksgiving is about giving back. And that’s exactly what we’re doing today.”
Drawing from her personal experiences between 2013 and 2016 in an abusive relationship, Bunnie highlighted her motivation for this mission. She stated, “Going through a situation personally… has just made this mission for myself even more of wanting to give back.” This perspective drives her commitment to support women and children facing similar challenges.
Now married to country artist Jelly Roll, Bunnie uses her experiences to inspire others. Her recent book, “Stripped Down,” chronicles her journey through those trying times.
As Thanksgiving nears, Bunnie shared a powerful image depicting her past: a photo featuring her with a swollen black eye. Her intention behind sharing this moment is to convey relatability and hope to women who may be in similar situations. “I want somebody that I can relate to, and I hope that these women know that I have been exactly where they are,” she explained. “I just want to lift them up and just make them feel so good and loved and know that they’re doing the right thing.”
Encouraging resilience, she advised, “I just want them to keep going. Don’t ever look back. Smash the rearview mirror.”
Recently, Bunnie also spoke about her past mistakes related to legal issues. On her podcast, Dumb Blonde, she revealed that she might face jail time due to unknowingly driving with a suspended license, an issue stemming from a minor incident several years ago. “I got my lawyer on it, whatever,” she acknowledged. “It looks like your girl is gonna have to go book herself in. If I do… I’m going in glammed the f–k up, baby, and I’m going to vlog it.”
