Blue Jays, ultimately falling 4-3 in West Hartford, Connecticut. The match was decided in a thrilling final singles encounter, which saw the Blue Jays clinch victory with a three-set win at No. 3 singles.
Doubles Overview
The match began with doubles play, where Saint Joseph (1-2) secured the lead by winning both the first and second doubles matches. Farmingdale’s senior duo of MacKenzie Gisler from Ronkonkoma, N.Y., and Mikayla DeMaria from West Babylon, N.Y., managed to capture a 6-3 victory at third doubles, but it was not enough to avert a 1-0 deficit heading into singles play.
Singles Highlights
In singles competition, the Rams responded vigorously. They quickly took a 2-1 lead with victories in the No. 4 and No. 5 positions. Gisler triumphed with a score of 6-4, 6-2 in the No. 4 match, while her teammate Gabriella Loria from Levittown, N.Y., dominated her No. 5 match, winning decisively 6-2, 6-0.
However, Saint Joseph rallied, reclaiming the lead by winning both the No. 1 and No. 6 singles matches. Farmingdale’s junior Natalia Furchel from Manorville, N.Y., managed to level the score again, securing a victory in her match at the second position with a scoreline of 6-1, 7-5.
Deciding Match
In the critical No. 3 singles match, Rams’ freshman Kaelin Burnett from East Islip, N.Y., faced a challenging start, losing the first set in a tiebreak 7-6 (7-4). However, she made a robust comeback by winning the second set 6-1. Despite her efforts, Saint Joseph’s Gia Alvarez sealed the match with a final set score of 6-2, earning the Blue Jays the overall victory by a narrow 4-3 margin.

The Rams will return to action on Saturday, September 13th, as they host Pratt for another non-conference match at 11:00 a.m.
