FORT WORTH – The TCU women’s tennis team achieved an impressive 4-0 victory against the Cincinnati Bearcats on a sunny Sunday at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center.
Coach Lee’s Reflections
“Today, we displayed our best doubles performance of the season. Cincinnati is known for their doubles strength, having recently won a point against Baylor. I’m thrilled with our doubles execution. Jade pushed through some illness to contribute to a strong doubles effort, and we ensured she rested during singles. Each player rose to the occasion in singles. Raquel was phenomenal, defeating a seasoned opponent. Tomi and Yuki continue to be formidable forces at their positions, showing their best form of the year. This match was an excellent series for our team, and we aim to maintain our momentum as we dive deeper into conference play.”
Match Highlights
In doubles, the Horned Frogs showcased their dominance, clinching victory on both the first and second courts. The No. 24 ranked doubles team of Jade Otway and Isabel Pascual seized a decisive 6-2 win against Morgan Pyrz and Sakurako Watanabe. Following suit, Helena Narmont and Yu-Chin Tsai secured the doubles point for TCU with a 6-3 win over Rozalia Gruszczynska and Gabrielle Guenther on court two. Meanwhile, on court three, Tomi Main and Raquel Caballero were leading 5-2 when the final point was scored.
In singles play, Main was the first to finish, quickly putting TCU ahead 2-0 with her impressive 6-0, 6-2 victory over Milica Popovski on court four. Tsai soon extended their lead to 3-0 with a straight-set triumph on court three against Gabrielle Guenther. The match was ultimately clinched by Caballero, who sealed the win with a score of 6-3, 6-3 against Zeynep Erman.
