Acknowledging Excellence: Tallulah Miller Named CAA’s Defensive Player of the Week
RICHMOND, Va. – The Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) has recognized Monmouth University women’s soccer goalkeeper Tallulah Miller as the Defensive Player of the Week, marking her first accolade from the conference this season.
Miller’s outstanding performance contributed significantly to Monmouth’s success, as she recorded a total of eight saves while conceding only one goal during two important victories.
Week in Review: Key Performances
In a match against Drexel on Thursday, Miller showcased her skills by making four crucial saves, leading to a 1-0 victory for the Hawks. The only goal allowed was a second-half strike from Chloe Messer, which marked Miller’s fourth clean sheet of the current season.
The following game saw Miller again take the spotlight with another four-save display in a thrilling 2-1 comeback win over Hofstra on Sunday. Despite an early goal conceded within the first ten minutes, she displayed remarkable resilience, ensuring that the Pride did not score again, allowing her team to complete the comeback.
Statistics and Achievements
This marked the ninth match of the season where Miller recorded three or more saves. Impressively, in the eight games where she allowed one goal or fewer, Monmouth has maintained an unbeaten record of 7-0-1. Her goals against average has steadily decreased over the last four matches, now standing at 1.32 per game, paired with an impressive save rate of 71.1% through 13 games this season.
Continued Team Success
Miller’s recognition adds to a growing list of honors for the Hawks, marking the third consecutive week that Monmouth athletes have been acknowledged in the CAA weekly awards. She is the fourth player from the team to earn a recognition this season, joining teammates Summer Reimet, who has received the Offensive Player of the Week award three times, and Evangeline Perdomo and Marie Bogue, who have collectively earned three Rookie of the Week accolades.
Upcoming Challenges
The Hawks are currently on a positive trajectory, having won their last three conference matches. Their next challenge will be a three-match road trip, beginning this Sunday against Towson, with kickoff scheduled for 1 p.m. in Towson, Md.
