Empowering Women Through Entrepreneurship Development Programs in Tamil Nadu
The Tamil Nadu State Council for Science and Technology (TNSCST) has announced a series of entrepreneurship development programs aimed specifically at women. Funded by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), these initiatives are designed to enhance the skills and knowledge of female graduates in the fields of science and technology.
Overview of the Programs
TNSCST has received approval for three distinct programs:
- Women Entrepreneurship
- Technology-Based Entrepreneurship
- Faculty Entrepreneurship
Each program is structured to provide comprehensive training and valuable resources to its participants. A structured, four-week program is designed to empower women who hold degrees or diplomas in science and technology.
In-Depth Program Details
Women Entrepreneurship Development Programme
This four-week course aims to equip female participants with the skills necessary to launch their own ventures in science and technology.
Technology-Based Entrepreneurship Development Program
Conducted over a six-week period, this program targets various sectors, including:
- Leather
- Plastic
- Electronics and Communication
- Instrumentation
- Sports Goods
- Biotechnology
- IT and Computer Hardware
- Food Processing
- Biomedical Equipment
- Glass and Ceramics
- Herbs and Medicinal Plant Processing
Participants will gain insights into indigenous technologies that have been developed for commercial applications, according to S. Vincent, the council’s member secretary.
Faculty Entrepreneurship Development Program
This two-week initiative is intended for educators, focusing on training them to become resource persons who promote sustainable agricultural practices. Instruction will encompass topics such as:
- Biofertilizers
- Biopesticides
Expert Guidance and Resources
Key stakeholders and industry experts will serve as facilitators throughout the programs. Participants will benefit from:
- Hands-on experience with biofertilizers and biopesticides.
- Knowledge from the MSME Development Institute on entrepreneurship and small business development.
- Insights from esteemed business schools and management institutes regarding entrepreneurial education and strategy.
- Support from intellectual property experts focusing on innovation protection.
- Soft skills training to enhance communication and leadership capabilities.
- Financial advice from institutions to aid in funding and business growth.
In total, around 110 participants are expected to benefit from this initiative, which aims to lay a robust foundation for women’s entrepreneurship in Tamil Nadu.
