IU Indianapolis Women’s Cross Country Team Competes at Rumble in the Fort
On September 20, at the Rumble in the Fort in Fort Wayne, Indiana, IU Indianapolis junior Julie Smith made a striking comeback to the women’s cross country squad. Smith registered one of the fastest times in program history, finishing the 6,000m course with the sixth-best time ever recorded by a Jaguar.

The Rumble in the Fort served as a preliminary event for the upcoming Horizon League Championships, which will take place at the same venue in approximately six weeks. During this meet, the Jaguars secured a fifth-place finish with a total of 120 points, falling short of teams like Milwaukee and Purdue Fort Wayne, who scored 101 and 104 points, respectively. Trine University clinched the team victory with a remarkable 37 points, while Butler University followed closely in second with 43 points.
