North Dakota State Women’s Track & Field Performance at NCAA West Preliminary Rounds
COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Six athletes from the North Dakota State women’s track & field team participated in the NCAA West Preliminary Rounds, showcasing their talents and resilience.
Individual Achievements
In the long jump event, senior Grace Emineth marked an impressive leap of 20-8 (6.30m), securing 17th place. Emineth narrowly missed a spot at the NCAA Championships by just 2 ½ inches and concludes her Bison career ranking second in both indoor and outdoor long jump in school history.
Merrideth Spiers, also a senior, achieved a 28th place finish in the hammer throw with a distance of 189-7 (57.80m). Junior Adison Kapitzke finished closely behind in 36th place with a mark of 181-10 (55.42m). Both athletes surpassed their pre-meet rankings of 35th and 47th, respectively, demonstrating significant improvements in performance.
Kapitzke also participated in the shot put event, where she reached 42nd place with a throw of 47-7 (14.50m).
Upcoming Competitions
Freshman Nyariek Kur placed 47th in the long jump, achieving a distance of 18-05.25 (5.62m). She will have another opportunity to compete in the triple jump event scheduled for Saturday afternoon, promising excitement for her and the Bison supporters.
Senior Jacee Johannsen faced challenges during her pole vault attempt, no-heighting at the opening bar set at 13-02.25 (4.02m).
Continuation of the Meet
The preliminary rounds will continue as men’s events are set for Friday, followed by the conclusion of women’s competitions on Saturday, making it a crucial period for many athletes aiming for national qualification.
