Roshni Nadar Malhotra: A Trailblazer in Global Wealth Rankings
New Delhi: Roshni Nadar Malhotra, the visionary chairperson of HCL Technologies, has etched her name in history as the first Indian woman to break into the top 10 of the Hurun Global Rich List 2025. With a remarkable fortune estimated at ₹3.5 lakh crore, she proudly holds the fifth spot among the wealthiest women in the world.
Ascension through Strategic Stake Transfers
Her impressive leap in the rankings can be attributed to a significant transfer of 47 percent of shares from her father, Shiv Nadar, the esteemed founder of HCL Technologies. This strategic move has empowered her with substantial control over Vama Sundari Investments (Vama Delhi) and HCL Corp, the key entities behind HCL Technologies. As a result, Roshni now spearheads all critical strategic decisions for the $12 billion tech powerhouse.
Control and Influence Over Major Stakes
Following this transition, Roshni Nadar Malhotra has assumed authority over the voting rights associated with Vama Delhi’s 44.17 percent stake and HCL Corp’s 0.17 percent stake in HCL Technologies. Additionally, she controls the voting rights over Vama Delhi’s 12.94 percent stake and HCL Corp’s 49.94 percent stake in HCL Infosystems.
Family Legacy and Leadership
Previously, Shiv Nadar maintained a 51 percent stake in both Vama Delhi and HCL Corp, while Roshni held a 10.33 percent interest in these entities. Roshni Nadar Malhotra stepped into her role as chairperson of HCL Technologies in July 2020, marking a significant milestone in her career. She is also a dedicated trustee of the Shiv Nadar Foundation, an organization committed to establishing prestigious educational institutions across India.
