Acknowledgment of Excellence in CCIW Women’s Tennis

NAPERVILLE – The College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) has recognized Madeline Gentry of Wheaton College as the Women’s Tennis Student-Athlete of the Week, following her impressive performance last week that saw her contribute to four victories within the Thunder lineup.

Outstanding Dual Match Contributions

In her recent matches against Coe College and Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, Gentry showcased her skill in both singles and doubles play. This recognition marks her as the first student-athlete from Wheaton to earn this honor since Ella Malone on October 9.

Match Highlights

During the dual matches, Gentry exhibited exceptional talent, particularly in the following matchups:

  • Coe College Match: Gentry partnered with Lydia Adams to secure a decisive 6-2 victory at the #1 doubles position against Ali Hagness and Addison Leasure. In the singles match, Gentry triumphed over Sophia Fain with a score of 6-0, 6-3.
  • Rose-Hulman Match: Once again teaming with Adams, Gentry achieved another 6-2 win in doubles against Lia Taylor and Addie Patterson. She continued her strong performance with a 6-1, 6-0 victory in singles against Taylor.

CCIW Women’s Tennis Student-Athletes of the Week – 2024-25 Season

  8. Oct. 16: Alexandra Ristfeldt, North Park
  9. Oct. 9: Ella Malone, Wheaton
  10. Oct. 2: Abigail Penados, North Central
  11. Sept. 25: Xingchen Liu, Carthage
  12. Sept. 18: Hannah Colbert, Augustana
  13. Sept. 11: Emily Markus, Millikin
  14. Sept. 4: Delaney Canning, Wheaton
