Shawn Morelli Clinches Bronze in Women’s C4 Scratch Race

Team USA concluded its participation in the 2025 UCI Paracycling Track World Championships with the addition of a bronze medal to their tally, along with remarkable performances throughout the event.

Performance Highlights

Men’s & Women’s Tandem Sprint

The American tandem teams exhibited commendable skill during the morning qualifications, advancing through the rounds successfully. In the Women’s Tandem Sprint, the pair of Hannah Chadwick from Arcata, California, and her pilot Liz Stevenson from Rochester Hills, Michigan, qualified sixth with a time of 11.809 seconds.

In the quarterfinals, they faced a strong competitor in Team Great Britain. Unfortunately, the duo was edged out in both rounds, which resulted in them moving to the 5th-6th place final against New Zealand. After a challenging sprint, Chadwick and Stevenson secured sixth place overall.

Women’s Tandem Sprint Results:

In the Men’s Tandem Sprint, Michael Stephens from Huntington, West Virginia, and his pilot Joe Christiansen from Lyons, Colorado, qualified with a time of 10.704 seconds, placing fifth overall. In the quarterfinals, they faced Belgium, which eliminated them from further contention.

This led them to the 5th-6th place final against the Neutral Athlete Team. After a tense race with both teams exchanging leads, Stephens and Christiansen ultimately surged ahead on the final lap, claiming fifth place.

Men’s Elimination Race

Jason Macom from Colorado Springs capped off his World Championships with an intense effort in the MC4 Elimination Race. From the start, Macom maintained a strong position and adeptly avoided crashes as the competition narrowed.

As the race progressed and the field thinned to six riders, he continued to sprint hard in attempts to secure a podium position. Despite his strong performance, Macom finished fourth, marking his second fourth-place result of the event.

  2. Archie Atkinson (GBR)
  3. Diego German Dueñas Gomez (COL)
  4. Jason Macom (USA)

Women’s Scratch Race

In a mixed event featuring 14 competitors, American riders Jenny Schuble from Franklin, Tennessee and Shawn Morelli from Meadville, Pennsylvania represented the U.S. in the 40-lap Women’s C4 and C5 Scratch Race. Morelli took an early lead, establishing a fast tempo while Schuble maintained a strategic position within the main group.

Throughout the race, attempts to break away were frequently thwarted as the pack closed ranks. In the final laps, both riders demonstrated tenacity, with Schuble finishing eighth and Morelli securing tenth overall. After classification, Schuble ranked sixth in C5, while Morelli earned a bronze medal in C4.

  2. Anna Harkowska (POL)
  3. Nicole Murray (NZL)
  4. Jennifer Schuble (USA)

Women’s Scratch Race Results (C4):

  3. Shawn Morelli (USA)
