MACOMB, Ill. – In a challenging matchup at Northwest Field, Western Illinois women’s soccer faced a difficult defeat against Omaha, concluding the game with a score of 7-1. Omaha dominated the early stages, scoring five goals in the first half, which set the tempo for the match.
Following halftime, Omaha added two more goals. Western Illinois finally managed to break through the Maverick defense in the 71st minute, thanks to sophomore Abigail Schilling, who converted an assist from Simone Thorst to score the Leathernecks’ sole goal.
The goalkeeping duo of Ariel Bernard and Lillian Johns shared duties in net, collectively making 10 saves against a staggering 30 shots from Omaha. In contrast, Western Illinois could only muster four total shots, with two being on target. Omaha also significantly outperformed the Leathernecks in corner kicks, registering 11 to Western’s two. With this defeat, Western Illinois now holds a record of 1-8 for the season and is set to host St. Thomas on Thursday.

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Meanwhile, the Lindenwood women’s soccer team finished their non-conference schedule with a 0-0 draw against Indiana State. This result marked the Lions’ fourth shutout of the season. The match saw Lindenwood slightly edging out Indiana State in the first half with 11 shots compared to the Sycamores’ 9, though both teams failed to capitalize on their scoring chances. Anna Johnson was notable for Lindenwood, leading with three shots, while goalkeeper Caroline Ritter made an impressive eight saves throughout the match.
In the second half, Indiana State ramped up their offensive effort, taking 11 shots. Nonetheless, the Lindenwood defense held strong, with Ritter delivering a standout performance to secure the clean sheet. Anna Johnson again led the offensive efforts with four total shots.
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – In a thrilling encounter on Senior Day, Little Rock battled Tulsa to a 3-3 draw. The match, characterized by a flurry of yellow cards and injuries, showcased a high-paced contest filled with goal-scoring opportunities. Little Rock opened the scoring through Maria Schuller, who soon doubled their lead after an excellent counterattack.
However, after a player was sent off, Tulsa fought back, scoring a penalty and equalizing with a stunning shot from outside the box. The Trojans responded, retaking the lead with a goal from Schuller, but Tulsa quickly leveled the score again, resulting in a dramatic finish to the match. Urban shone in goal for Little Rock, making 11 crucial saves.
MILWAUKEE – In a tough matchup, the SIUE women’s soccer team was unable to find their footing, suffering a 7-0 defeat against Milwaukee. This loss closed out their non-conference season, leaving them with a record of 1-7-1. The Cougars managed only five shots throughout the match, with standout performances from Claire Nieroda, who contributed two shots, while Sarah Bozeman saved five attempts on goal.
Milwaukee’s victory improved their record to 3-4-1, highlighted by two goals each from Emily Petring and Kristina Karlof.
