Women’s Tennis Highlights
SAN BRUNO, Calif. – In an exciting update for women’s tennis, Washington State’s Eva Alvarez Sande and Maxine Murphy have been honored as the Heluva Good Dip West Coast Conference Women’s Tennis Doubles Team of the Week for the second time this season, marking their first recognition since the season’s opening week. Additionally, Nadine Arbaizar Martinez from Portland has been named the Heluva Good Dip WCC Women’s Tennis Singles Player of the Week.
HELUVA GOOD DIP WCC SINGLES PLAYER OF THE WEEK – NADINE ARBAIZAR MARTINEZ, SO. – PORTLAND
Nadine Arbaizar Martinez played a pivotal role in securing victories for the Pilots against Seattle and Eastern Washington last weekend. On Friday, she leveled the match score at 3-3 with a strong performance on the No. 5 court, winning 7-5, 6-4 against Daria Nazarenko. Her match contributed to the team’s thrilling comeback victory of 4-3. The following day, she stepped up to the No. 4 singles spot, clinching the match with a decisive score of 6-1, 6-2.

HELUVA GOOD DIP WCC DOUBLES TEAM OF THE WEEK – EVA ALVAREZ SANDE, JR., AND MAXINE MURPHY, JR., WASHINGTON STATE
The talented Cougar pair achieved a remarkable 2-0 record in No. 1 doubles competition against formidable opponents No. 15 Baylor and No. 53 TCU. They secured WSU’s only doubles win against Baylor by overcoming the nation’s seventh-ranked duo with a score of 6-4. The following day against TCU, they triumphed 6-4 over the 24th-ranked pair, ensuring the Cougars captured the critical opening doubles point. With this success, Alvarez Sande and Murphy improved their overall season record to 14-7, including a remarkable 9-3 in dual matches, all while competing in the top doubles position. The Cougars have now earned three Conference accolades this season.
