Ruth’s List Florida Endorses Four Women Candidates for Upcoming Elections
The Tampa-based nonprofit Ruth’s List Florida has added four progressive women to its list of preferred candidates for the upcoming elections. The organization’s goal is to bolster women who advocate for reproductive rights and champion progressive values across the state.
Endorsements Overview
Among the newly endorsed candidates is Rep. LaVon Bracy Davis, who is running to fill the seat of the late Geraldine Thompson in Senate District 15. Also receiving support is Miami Beach Commissioner Laura Dominguez, who is seeking re-election.
Additionally, Ruth’s List has thrown its weight behind Kyandra Darling, a nonprofit leader aiming to succeed Rep. Michele Rayner in House District 62, as well as Mira Tanna, currently the Grants Manager for Orlando, who is pursuing an open City Council seat.
Statements from Ruth’s List Leadership
“These four women are exactly the kind of bold, values-driven leaders Florida needs right now,” said Christina Diamond, CEO of Ruth’s List. She emphasized their dedication to their communities and commitment to issues like reproductive freedom and economic justice.
Candidates’ Backgrounds
LaVon Bracy Davis
A civil rights attorney and advocate for arts and education, Bracy Davis currently serves House District 40. Following her announcement on April 10 to resign effective September 1, she outlined her commitment to strengthening public education and expanding economic opportunities.
Laura Dominguez
Dominguez, who began her re-election campaign in February, has gained endorsements from local first responder groups. Since taking office in 2022, she has focused on public safety and environmental sustainability, earning a reputation as a compassionate leader.
Kyandra Darling
Darling has a strong background in nonprofit leadership, having previously served as an Innovation Officer at the Foundation for a Healthy St. Petersburg. She successfully raised over $32,000 in the first quarter of 2025 for her House District 62 campaign.
Mira Tanna
Entering the Orlando City Council race recently, Tanna is the third candidate to declare for the seat held by incumbent Robert Stuart. Her professional experience as a Grants Manager positions her well for public service.
Vision for Florida
“These candidates embody the Ruth’s List vision: a Florida where Democratic pro-choice women serve at every level of government, from city hall to the state Capitol,” said Diamond, reinforcing the organization’s commitment to supporting female leadership across the state.
