Macalester College’s Rogahn-Press Recognized as All-North Region Athlete
ST. PAUL, Minn. — In a remarkable achievement, first-year student-athlete Ariella Rogahn-Press from Macalester College has been awarded All-North Region honors in the 400 meters, as announced by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association. This accolade is reserved for athletes who rank within the top five in their region for individual events or top three in relays.
At the MIAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships held on May 10, Rogahn-Press showcased her talent by finishing with the second-fastest time in the region and Division III, clocking in at 53.89 seconds. She narrowly missed first place, falling to Gustavus’ Megan Geraets, who finished just two-hundredths of a second faster at 53.87, marking the leading times regionally and nationally.
Rogahn-Press’s impressive performance also places her 11th on the all-time Division III list for the 400 meters, securing her a spot at the upcoming NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships. In addition to her individual success in the 400 meters, she finished second in the 200 meters and contributed to the Scots’ relay teams, which placed fifth in the 4×100 meters and fourth in the 4×400 meters at the MIAC Championships. Her achievements earned her the title of MIAC Outdoor Track & Field Rookie of the Year.
Previously, Rogahn-Press had also received the MIAC Indoor Track & Field Rookie of the Year award after securing All-American honors with a sixth-place finish in the 400 meters at the NCAA Indoor Championships. Throughout her inaugural season at Macalester, she has established school records in the 200 meters (indoor and outdoor) and the 400 meters (indoor and outdoor) and has earned four All-MIAC performances. Her national-qualifying time of 56.22 seconds in the 400 meters and her school-record indoor time of 25.21 seconds in the 200 meters ranked in the top five within the North Region.
The NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships are set to commence with the 400 meters preliminaries on Friday, May 23, at 2:15 p.m., followed by the finals scheduled for Saturday, May 24, at 1:20 p.m. The event will take place at SPIRE Academy in Geneva, Ohio.
