The General Federation of Women’s Clubs of New Hampshire (GFWC-NH) will be hosting an informative Open House on October 28, 2025. This event is aimed at encouraging individuals to join in the formation of a new Women’s Club in Rochester.
Set to run from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., the gathering will take place at the Isinglass Conference Room, located on the second floor of the Rochester City Hall Annex, 33 Wakefield Street. For convenience, attendees are advised to use the parking area at the back of the building for easy access.
Revitalizing Community Engagement
Rochester boasts a strong history of civic participation, previously hosting a vibrant Women’s Club. GFWC-NH is committed to renewing this community spirit by inviting new members to partake in volunteer opportunities and civic engagement.
A Platform for Empowerment
Being part of the GFWC provides an enriching experience. Members can engage in meaningful community service, enhance leadership abilities, and forge lasting friendships. Areas of focus include education, the arts, health, and civic involvement, ensuring there’s an avenue for every potential member’s interests.
“Our clubs are locally run, select their own projects, and are supported by a statewide and national network of resources to help clubs along the way,” said Donna Maskwa, GFWC-NH State Membership Chairman.
Looking Forward
Denise Raisanen, the current GFWC-NH State President, expressed excitement about Rochester’s potential: “This is an exciting community. Once home to a large and active Rochester Women’s Club, GFWC-NH hopes to get a new club started again in Rochester.”
Collective Impact and Reach
GFWC clubs are independently operated while benefiting from a larger statewide and national federation. In 2024 alone, GFWC clubs completed over 106,000 projects, dedicated 5.3 million hours to volunteer work, contributed more than $14.3 million, and provided an additional $10 million worth of in-kind donations.
GFWC-NH currently consists of 21 clubs throughout the state, with over 800 active members representing a diverse demographics but united in their goal of enhancing lives through volunteer service.
A Global Network
The General Federation of Women’s Clubs is an international organization devoted to improving communities across the globe through volunteerism. GFWC is present in all 50 states as well as Washington, D.C., and operates 21 international affiliate clubs in 12 countries. Key advocacy areas include domestic violence prevention, child welfare, education, the arts, and environmental stewardship.
