Punjab Women Protest Against AAP’s Unfulfilled Promises
A group of determined women from Punjab gathered outside the residence of Arvind Kejriwal, the Convenor of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), on Saturday to voice their grievances. Their demonstration was sparked by allegations that AAP failed to deliver on a commitment to provide monthly financial support of Rs 1,000 to women in the state.
Expressing their frustration, the protesters challenged the AAP’s accountability, asking, “Why has Kejriwal not honored the promises made to us? When will he fulfill them?” These fervent questions echoed the sentiments of many women who feel let down by the party’s unkept commitments over the past three years.
Joining the protest was Congress MLA Amrinder Singh Raja Warring, who criticized Kejriwal for failing to deliver on his promises. “He is now offering Rs 2,100 to the women of Delhi,” Warring pointed out, cautioning that these may also end up being mere words without any real action.
The protest coincided with Kejriwal’s announcement of the Mukhya Mantri Mahila Samman Yojana in Delhi, which promises a monthly aid of Rs 1,000. Ironically, this timing raised further doubts among the protesting women regarding the sincerity of these new promises.
As the demonstration unfolded, it became evident that the women of Punjab are not only advocating for their rights but also calling for accountability from their leaders. Their voices serve as a reminder of the importance of fulfilling promises made to empower women and support their financial well-being.
