Pratibha Singh Congratulates Rekha Gupta on Her Appointment as Delhi’s Chief Minister
Shimla (Himachal Pradesh) [India], February 20: The Chief of the Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee, Pratibha Singh, has expressed her congratulations to Rekha Gupta on her recent appointment as the Chief Minister of Delhi. Singh praised the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for empowering a woman to lead the state.
In a conversation with ANI, Singh remarked, “It’s a significant step to offer this opportunity to a woman. Delhi has seen formidable female leaders, from Sushma Swaraj to Sheila Dikshit, and now Atishi and Rekha Gupta. I congratulate her and anticipate that she will keep the promises made to the citizens.”
Reflecting on her predecessor, Sheila Dikshit, Singh noted the considerable development that occurred during her administration. “Under Sheila Dikshit’s leadership, Delhi experienced impressive progress, remembered fondly by the constituents. With high expectations, voters have cast their ballots in this election. The focus now shifts to how Rekha Gupta will honor her commitments and her achievements in office,” she added.
Restructuring the Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee
Regarding the ongoing reorganization within the Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee (HPCC), Pratibha Singh affirmed that efforts are being made collectively with state Congress leadership, central leadership, and Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu.
She acknowledged Rajeev Shukla, the former state in-charge, for his contributions and his request to step down. Singh stated, “Rajeev Shukla has performed remarkable work. He expressed his desire to relinquish his position, and we are pleased to appoint Rajni Patil as the new in-charge for Himachal Pradesh.” She highlighted Patil’s previous experience in this role and her good rapport with party leaders and workers.
Singh added, “Patil will return to Himachal Pradesh on the 26th for discussions with key party members. Based on these discussions, we will strategize, allocate responsibilities within the party, and establish the new committee.”
Forward Planning for Elections
Looking ahead, Singh emphasized the importance of the upcoming panchayati raj elections and the need for attentive and dedicated engagement. “We must stay active. Those in charge should fulfill their roles diligently. I am optimistic about our party’s performance,” she stated.
Furthermore, she stressed the necessity for early preparations for the 2027 elections, stating, “We will begin our work now to ensure that every party worker dedicates themselves with loyalty, as they have historically.”
Singh highlighted the need for increased involvement from women and youth in party leadership. “It is crucial to elevate the youth. While we bring forth younger voices, we must also honor and acknowledge the invaluable contributions of our senior leaders. Their wisdom will be vital as we shape future leadership,” she noted.
Encouraging young leaders to take on more responsibilities, Singh declared, “Today’s youth should rise to the occasion and fulfill their roles with commitment, just as they did during their time in the Youth Congress. We aim to engage with the Chief Minister on all pertinent issues and consult with the Deputy Chief Minister regarding priority appointments.”
Singh further emphasized the importance of fair representation across all regions, including remote areas like Lahaul-Spiti, Bhanjar, Bharmaur, and Dodra Kwar. “Individuals from these regions work tirelessly for the party, and we are committed to ensuring their contributions are acknowledged,” she assured.
Advocating for Women in Leadership
Singh passionately advocated for boosting women’s participation in leadership roles within the party. “Women constitute half of our population, and the era of their marginalization is over. We will assign responsibilities to women as well,” she asserted.
Expressing confidence in women’s governance abilities, she stated, “As a woman, I believe in the integrity and dedication that women bring to the table. It is essential to elevate them and enable their empowerment in leadership roles.”
