Political Tensions Rise in Jubilee Hills By-Election
Chief Minister’s Accusations
In the lead-up to the Jubilee Hills by-election, Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has openly criticized opposition leaders K T Rama Rao (KTR) and T Harish Rao. He accused them of misleading voters and using dramatic tactics to capture public attention.
Symbolic Distancing from ‘Car’ Symbol
Reddy pointed out that the opposition leaders have been seen traveling in autorickshaws, which he interpreted as a symbolic distancing from the BRS party’s election symbol, the ‘car’. He argued that this change reflects the diminishing support for the party among the electorate in Telangana.
The Chief Minister’s comments were delivered amidst ongoing demands for the Congress government to keep its pre-election promises made to auto drivers.
Critique of Internal Party Dynamics
Reddy took the opportunity to address issues related to KTR’s treatment of women within his party, referencing allegations voiced by KTR’s sister, K Kavitha. This statement seems to suggest broader concerns regarding leadership and accountability within the BRS party.
Development Promises for Jubilee Hills
In a bid to rally support, Reddy emphasized a commitment to enhanced development initiatives in the Jubilee Hills constituency. He urged voters to elect Congress candidate V Naveen Yadav in the upcoming by-election, which was necessitated by the passing of BRS MLA Maganti Gopinath.
