Portland Pilots Secure Talented Local Point Guard
PORTLAND, Ore. – In a significant move for the future of their program, the Portland Pilots Women’s Basketball team has announced their first signing from the 2026 class, local standout Sara Mangan. Her addition promises to enhance the team’s performance right from the onset.
Portland’s head coach, Michael Meek, expressed his enthusiasm for Mangan, stating, “We are thrilled with what Sara will bring to this program and feel she will make an immediate impact. She is a player that wants to be elite and has an elite work ethic. Her efficient shooting and range will elevate our offense and stretch defenses, and her basketball IQ and instinctive feel for the game make her tough on both ends of the floor. Sara is a perfect fit to our team culture and will continue to elevate our program.”
A Star in High School Basketball
A product of Beaverton, Ore., Mangan has made a name for herself during her time at Southridge High School. Over the past three seasons, she has earned first team All-Metro League honors and was recognized as the Metro League Player of the Year for the 2024-2025 season. Additionally, she was selected for the second team All-State in 2024-2025 and made her mark as an adidas All-American in 2025. On the adidas 3SSB circuit, she showcased her remarkable shooting skills, posting an impressive 48% success rate from the three-point line.
Achievements and Legacy
Mangan has led the Skyhawks to back-to-back Metro League championships and a commendable sixth-place finish at the 2025 OSAA 6A State Championships. Coach Meek, who previously enjoyed tremendous success leading the Southridge Skyhawks with multiple state titles, brings experience that aligns with Mangan’s potential for greatness.
