Philippines Set to Host FIFA Futsal Women’s World Cup 2025
In a historic event for Philippine sports, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has announced the establishment of an Inter-Agency Task Force dedicated to organizing the FIFA Futsal Women’s World Cup (FFWWC) 2025. This significant event marks the first time the Philippines will host the prestigious tournament, with the matches scheduled from November 21 to December 7, 2025.
Venue and Coordination
The tournament will feature 16 national teams and will take place in Pasig City and Victorias City in Negros Occidental. To ensure the successful execution of this international competition, the newly founded task force will act as the principal coordinating entity for government agencies, local government units (LGUs), and private organizations involved in planning and hosting the event.
Leadership and Member Agencies
As outlined in Administrative Order No. 35, signed by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin on July 30, the Philippine Sports Commission has been designated as the chair and secretariat of the task force. The Department of the Interior and Local Government will serve as the vice chair, enhancing the collaborative leadership structure.
The task force will include representatives from numerous government departments, particularly:
- Department of Tourism
- Department of Foreign Affairs
- Department of Finance
- Department of Budget and Management
- Department of Health
- Department of Information and Communications Technology
- Department of Public Works and Highways
- Department of Transportation
- Presidential Communications Office
- Philippine National Police
- Bureau of Immigration
- Metropolitan Manila Development Authority
Objectives and Responsibilities
The task force is charged with a variety of responsibilities to facilitate the tournament, including:
- Planning and executing all aspects of the event
- Coordinating with relevant government and private partners
- Establishing an executive committee, if necessary, to oversee operations
- Securing funding through donations and grants in line with legal parameters
Support and Funding
To ensure the successful organization of the FFWWC 2025, national government agencies, state universities and colleges, and government-owned and controlled corporations (GOCCs) are mandated to offer their support to the task force. Furthermore, LGUs and the private sector are encouraged to contribute to this national initiative.
