As Thanksgiving weekend approaches, all seven teams competing in Atlantic Hockey will be in action, presenting a thrilling lineup for fans of collegiate women’s hockey.

Key Matchups This Weekend

The only Atlantic Hockey Association (AHA) series will feature Robert Morris visiting RIT, where both teams are currently tied for third place in the league standings. In addition, Mercyhurst will be participating in the SMASHVILLE Women’s Collegiate Hockey Showcase. Other notable matches include Penn State taking on Northeastern in non-conference play, Delaware visiting Union, and Lindenwood hosting Bemidji State. Furthermore, Syracuse will engage in a home-and-home series against RPI.

Penn State’s Historic Rise

Penn State is entering this weekend with an impressive record of 16 wins, 0 losses, and 0 ties, maintaining its position as the nation’s only unbeaten team. The Nittany Lions have moved up to the No. 4 ranking in the USCHO Poll, marking the highest position in the program’s history. Their recent performance includes a sweep against RIT, which has contributed to their remarkable scoring differential of 83 goals for and just 16 against.

Penn State will face a significant challenge as they visit No. 7 Northeastern, which boasts a record of 12-2-0 and an impressive home record of 8-0-0. The matchup is expected to be competitive, as both teams have previously split their four encounters.

RIT and Robert Morris: A Battle for Third Place

With both RIT and Robert Morris tied at 13 points in the AHA standings, their series will provide an opportunity for one of these teams to gain a crucial advantage. RIT has faced challenges at home this season, holding a record of 4-5-0. However, their recent strong showing against Penn State indicates that they remain formidable competitors.

This weekend marks the third and fourth contests between these teams, as Robert Morris previously defeated RIT twice in early October. Robert Morris is coming off a strong performance with a 3-0 victory against Lindenwood. Both matches this weekend are scheduled for 2:05 p.m. EST and will be available for viewing on FloHockey.

Additionally, the AHA has announced its Players of the Week, recognizing Penn State’s Tessa Janecke and Danica Maynard, along with Robert Morris’s Maggie Hatch and RIT’s Tilli Keranen (rookie).

Janecke, Maynard, and Grace Outwater have all surpassed the 20-point mark this season, with Janecke holding a tie for fourth nationally with 25 points. Moreover, Mercyhurst’s Makayla Javier has achieved the remarkable milestone of 238 career blocks, the highest among active players.
