Patriot League Women’s Basketball Weekly Highlights

BETHLEHEM, Pa. — The Patriot League has announced the most recent top performers in women’s basketball, with Loyola Maryland’s Lex Therien earning the title of PenFed Credit Union Player of the Week. Meanwhile, Lehigh’s Leia Edwards has been recognized as the Rookie of the Week.

Lex Therien, a graduate forward from Loyola Maryland, achieved Player of the Week honors after delivering an impressive statistical performance during the past week. She averaged 23.0 points, 9.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 3.0 steals, and 1.0 blocks per game. Notably, Therien marked her 50th career double-double during a victory against Yale, solidifying her status as one of the league’s elite players.

In a standout performance of her own, Leigh Edwards, a freshman forward, scored a game-high 22 points on 8-of-13 shooting during a pivotal win over Drexel, further contributing to her accolades as Rookie of the Week.

Additional commendations were awarded to several athletes, including Army West Point’s Kya Smith, American University’s Molly Driscoll, Navy’s Zanai Barnett-Gay, American’s Charlotte Tuhy, and Lafayette’s Haylie Adamski, who all received honorable mentions for their noteworthy performances.

Leia Edwards, Lehigh

  • Maintained double-digit scoring in all three of Lehigh’s home games this season.

  • Kya Smith, Army West Point: Averaged 16.5 points and 11.5 rebounds on 66.7% shooting.
  • Molly Driscoll, American: Scored 18 against LIU and tallied a career-high 29 points vs. La Salle on 9-for-15 shooting.
  • Zanai Barnett-Gay, Navy: Averaged 17.0 points and had a double-double with 23 points against Rider.
  • Charlotte Tuhy, American: Achieved her third double-double with 10 points and 14 rebounds against La Salle.
  • Haylie Adamski, Lafayette: Contributed 13 points on 4-for-7 shooting and three assists in Lafayette’s game against Wagner.
