ORLANDO, Fla. — Day one of the 2025 NCAA Division I Women’s Singles and Doubles Championships has concluded, showcasing some thrilling matches. The highlight for the University of Florida came from sophomore Gabia Paskauskas, who achieved a hard-fought victory in her Round of 64 singles match. Paskauskas emerged victorious against Stanford’s Alyssa Ahn, winning with scores of 6-2, 4-6, and 7-5.
Paskauskas’s next challenge awaits as she prepares to compete against NC State’s Mia Slama in the Round of 32 on Wednesday, November 19.
In contrast, senior Xinyi Nong faced a tough battle in her Round of 64 match against Ria Bhakta from Clemson. Despite a spirited effort, Nong fell short, losing the match with narrow scores of 7-5 and 6-4.
NCAA Doubles Championships
The action continues on Wednesday as the NCAA doubles championship kicks off. Nong will partner with Nikola Daubnerova to take on the Virginia duo of Melodie Collard and Vivian Yang in the Round of 32.
