Ashley Overgaauw and Alexi MacDonald Earn USTFCCCA All-Region Honors
In a notable achievement for Minnesota State University, student-athletes Ashley Overgaauw and Alexi MacDonald were recognized as NCAA Division II Cross Country All-Region by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) on November 10.
Criteria for All-Region Honors
Both athletes secured the All-Region status through impressive performances, finishing in the top 25 at their respective regional competitions. Eligibility for this accolade is limited to participants from USTFCCCA member programs.
Ashley Overgaauw’s Impressive Progress
A sophomore from Lake Wilson, Minnesota, Overgaauw has shown exceptional skill in her inaugural season as a Maverick. Notably, she has placed in the top 10 in five different meets this fall. Her standout performance was a second-place finish at the NSIC Championships on October 24 in Wayne, Nebraska—a remarkable achievement, as it marks the best finish by a Minnesota State women’s cross-country student-athlete since 1982.

As the top finisher for the Mavericks at the Central Region Championships, Overgaauw contributed significantly to the team’s overall performance, which placed fourth in the contest. This result positions them for consideration for an at-large bid to the NCAA Championships scheduled for November 22 in Kenosha, Wisconsin.
Alexi MacDonald’s Consistent Performance
MacDonald, a senior hailing from Rice Lake, Wisconsin, is in her fourth competitive season with the Mavericks. She completed the NCAA Central Region Championships with a time of 21:46.4, finishing in 23rd place among the competitors.
