OTTAWA, ON – July 10, 2025
Returning Players
The Ottawa Charge of the Professional Women’s Hockey League (PWHL) have confirmed that four players from the previous season will return for the upcoming 2025-26 season. Forward Anna Meixner, defenders Sam Isbell, Jessica Adolfsson, and goaltender Logan Angers have all officially signed one-year agreements with the team.
Player Profiles
Anna Meixner
Anna Meixner, a 31-year-old forward from Austria, played a significant role in the team’s offensive strategy. After being drafted in the sixth round by the Charge in 2024, she recorded a goal and an assist in 28 regular-season games, followed by two assists during the playoffs. Notably, she captained Austria to a first-place finish at the 2025 IIHF D1A Women’s World Championship.
Logan Angers
Logan Angers, a 25-year-old goaltender from Winnipeg, supported the team’s starting goaltender, Gwyneth Philips, throughout the last season. While she didn’t appear in any games, her dedication to skill development was noted. At Quinnipiac University, Angers maintained an impressive 1.80 goals-against average and .928 save percentage in 98 games.
Sam Isbell
At 27, Sam Isbell is a Thunder Bay native known for her strong understanding of the game. Last season, she appeared in eight games (four regular-season and four playoff) after spending time on the Reserve Player list. Isbell brings experience from previous professional stints in the PWHL and PHF.
Jessica Adolfsson
Jessica Adolfsson, a 26-year-old defender from Sweden, was also on the Reserve Player list. She participated in one game last season but has notable experience, having served as an alternate captain with Linköping HC in the SDHL. She represented Sweden in the 2022 Winter Olympics, contributing an assist in five games.
General Manager’s Insights
General Manager Mike Hirshfeld expressed optimism about Meixner’s development: “We are excited to see the growth of Anna Meixner next season as she became an important part of our offense in the second half of the season and into the playoffs.” Regarding Angers, he commented, “She worked hard to improve her craft, and we are excited to see how she progresses in year-two.” Hirshfeld also praised Isbell and Adolfsson for their efforts and understanding of the game during the previous season.
Current Roster and Future Prospects
With these signings, the Ottawa Charge now have eight forwards and six defenders slated for the upcoming season. Meixner joins a formidable group that includes Brianne Jenner, Emily Clark, Gabbie Hughes, Kateřina Mrázová, Rebecca Leslie, Taylor House, and newcomer É la gitié Giguère. Angers, alongside Philips, strengthens the goaltending lineup, bringing the current team roster to 16 players.
