CHARLESTON, S.C. – The No. 20 ranked Ole Miss women’s golf team is set to compete in the Cougar Classic on September 8-9 at the prestigious Yeamans Hall Club in Charleston, South Carolina. The Rebels are looking to continue their successful streak at this event, having secured back-to-back victories in the previous two years under head coach Kory Henkes.
Tournament Schedule
- Monday, Sept. 8: Rounds 1 & 2 starting at 7:30 a.m. CT (shotgun start, continuous play)
- Tuesday, Sept. 9: Final Round starting at 7:45 a.m. CT (shotgun start)
Lineup Overview
Ole Miss will feature a strong lineup for the tournament, including:
- Matilda Björkman (Fr.): Achieved a T3 finish in her collegiate debut at the Boilermaker Classic, with a scoring average of 71.00.
- Kajsalotta Svarvar (So.): Opened the season with a T5 finish, maintaining a season average of 71.33 and a low round of 69 (-3).
- Sophie Linder (Jr.): Finished 12th at the Boilermaker Classic, with a scoring average of 72.33 and a low round of 69 (-3).
- Filippa Sundquist (So.): Held a T16 finish in her last outing and has a season average of 73.33, starting with a round of 71 (-1).
- Mary Miller (So.): Transferred from Georgia Southern, with a scoring average of 75.66 and notable standout performance with 11 birdies in the Boilermaker Classic.
- Nicole Gal (Sr.)*: Recorded a T18 finish last time out, showcasing a season average of 73.66 and a low round of 70 (-2).

Coaching Familiarity
Head Coach Kory Henkes has strong ties to South Carolina, being a member of the 2002 SEC Championship team at the University of South Carolina. Associate Head Coach Zack Siefert, a Clemson graduate, has deep local roots as well, previously coaching at Charleston Southern and instructing at Dunes West Golf Course.
Season Highlights
The Rebels’ recent victory at the Boilermaker Classic marked Coach Henkes’ 20th win at the helm, reflecting a robust start to the season. Ole Miss led the competition in par-5 scoring while accumulating an impressive total of 50 birdies throughout the tournament. Notably, five players secured top-25 finishes, with Björkman leading the way.
Team Composition
Ole Miss returns 75% of its roster, bolstered by Senior Nicole Gal, who earned Second Team All-SEC honors, and sophomore Kajsalotta Svarvar, who achieved SEC All-Freshman team recognition last season. Other returning players include experienced junior Sophie Linder and sophomore Filippa Sundquist, alongside Larissa Carrillo and Emerson Blair.
New Additions
The team welcomes newcomer Matilda Björkman, whose past accolades include winning the Swedish Junior Tour Elite #1, and transfer Mary Miller from Georgia Southern, who notably set a program record of 37 rounds in a single season last year.
Upcoming Competitions
Following the Cougar Classic, Ole Miss will travel to Canada for the Canadian Collegiate Invitational on September 22-23 at Beacon Hall Golf Club.
